Safekept is an app that automates "text me when you get there." When you find yourself in a potentially vulnerable situation (a date, an evening run, a solo trip), you start a session. The app sends you periodic check-ins and, if you don't respond, automatically notifies your trusted contacts.

You receive a push notification asking "all good?" You respond with a single tap. The frequency of check-ins adapts based on session duration, time since your last check-in, and your movement (if you've been stationary for a long time, we check in more often).

The system escalates gradually. First it sends you a more insistent reminder. If you still don't respond after the number of missed check-ins you configured, it notifies your trusted contacts with your last known location, time since last response, and any note you left.

Absolutely. If your contacts are notified by mistake (dead phone, you were in the shower...), you can tap "I'm safe" and they immediately receive a cancellation notification.

There is no fixed limit. The session stays active until you close it manually or until escalation triggers. You can also extend it if you need more time without triggering alarms.

It is permanently deleted the moment you close the session. We do not keep a history of your movements. GPS data only exists for the duration of the active session and is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

No, never. We do not sell data to third parties, we do not create behavioral profiles, and we do not use your data for advertising. Our business model is based on the value of the app, not on your data.

Only the trusted contacts you selected for that specific session, and only during the active session. No one else, not even us, monitors your location in real time.

Location is the main safety feature, but you can configure sessions without GPS sharing. In that case, your contacts will still receive the alert if you don't respond to check-ins, but without location information.

Very little. GPS monitoring uses adaptive frequency: high only when needed (for example when you're moving), low when you're stationary. On average, a 2-hour session uses less than 5% battery.

The app needs an internet connection to send check-ins and location updates. If you lose connectivity, the system treats it as a missed check-in and may start escalation after the configured time.

No. Trusted contacts can receive alerts via SMS even without the app installed. With the app, they can also see your real-time location on a map during the active session.

Safekept is available for iOS (iPhone) and Android. The website is informational only — the entire experience happens in the mobile app.

Yes. The core features are completely free: sessions, check-ins, trusted contacts, escalation. No subscription required for safety.

No. There are no mandatory in-app purchases, ads, or paywalls blocking safety features. In the future we may offer optional premium features, but the core of the app will always remain free.
